I've created this LUA Script

--Update Colour: White LOW-FX

--Init
AllFixtures = 3
LOWFX = 18
HIGHFX = 19
LOWFXName = GetColorPresetName(18)
HIGHFXName = GetColorPresetName(19)
--Script
ClearProgrammer()
Key("Preview")
SelectGroup(AllFixtures)
SelectColorPreset(1)
RecordColorPreset(LOWFX, LOWFXName, on)
Key("Preview")

But I get this error:

ExecFile("ExternalMacro1.lua")
LUA Unexpected error occurred.

Anyone know why or what has caused this?

Colour FX Generator

@harrybilney wrote:

So this is my ongoing project at the moment.

Just for testing I have 36 RGB Parcans patched and also added into the 2D view in two rows of 18. I have created various colour presets for them.

I have a chase stored in a playback button (Page 1, Button 13) that has two cues in, each with a different colour. I have also added a delay on to each cue of 0 > 1.
Through LUA Scripting triggered by playback buttons, I want to be able to update (either using the update function or record and merge) the colour of either of the cues in the chase.

This is my script
(Playback button 16 is blank but has a macro included to select the chase playback button)

SelectGroup(1)
SelectColorPreset(1)
PlaybackButtonGo(1,16)
RecordCue(1, true)
PlaybackButtonGo(1, 13)
ClearProgrammer()

Which when I manually enter each command into MPC Tools, it works perfectly. But when having all the commands together within a .lua file and that being triggered as an external macro through a playback button, it doesn't work.

Group 1 is all 36 parcans, it then selects the chase playback button, records cue 1 and merges the data values (so to keep the delay information) and then presses go on the playback button, and finally clears the programmer. When singly inputting the lua commands into MPC Tools, everything works fine. But when I use a .lua file and trigger it via a playback button, my chase button releases, the parcans go red, and the programmer is not cleared.

Can anyone help? @Sylvain_Guiblain???

M-PC controlling Lightjams

@Boris wrote:

Hello,

Recently, I added a new software, Lightjams, to a club's Lighting System, for controlling LED Strips.
I was wondering if I could control this software from M-PC.

Lightjams support told me that it should be possible to do it on a same PC through ArtNet, that their software can be setup to listen other software, just need to setup IP address.

This is setup I have:

  1. PC; Lenovo Desktop; Windows 10 64bits
  2. M-PC; latest version; Martin USB PRO interface; controlling all intelligent lights (moving heads, LED PAR's, etc.)
  3. Lightjams; ENTTEC Mini Pixelator; controlling LED Strips

Both software are working side by side on a same PC with no problems.

I would like to be able to call Lightjams Cues from M-PC, so it's much easier for Operators to do their job, since they are no lighting people.
The question is how do I setup M-PC to send commands to IP address 127.0.01?

Look forward to your reply.

Thanks,
Boris

Hi there,

Is there an audio input on M2Go-HD? I looked everywhere but can’t find any information. Very poor documentation. No photo even the short video does not say anything about the audio input.
Where can I see the list of other MFG fixture profiles?
I only can find Martin’s fixtures.
Please devise.

Thanks,

Crossfader problem

@s.o.ovtg wrote:

Hello,
I've got a problem with the crossfade function of cuelists.
It works fine and I use it mainly because I don´t have enough time to set individual fade times.
But sometimes the default fade time is just fine and I'd like to use the go button to advance to the next cue.
But after I have used the crossfade function I have to press the go button twice to advance to the next cue.

After I have pressed the go button several times to advance to the right cue, the crossfader replays the cue I already faded in.

Is there a solution to this problem?

Best regards,
Martin

I have a Unique 2.1 Hazer and I you can set the fog and the fan separately from 0 to 99. What would be the best way to use this? Both the fog and the fan setting are under intensity. Would I be best to make two separate overrides for fog and fan, or could I make a preset for the fog levels under intensity and then somehow get the fan levels saved on another preset layer?

Being new to this I am looking for the commonly used best method.

Fixture library edit issues.

@b.pearce wrote:

Hi folks,

I have 2 problems with the Library Editor.

  1. When saving it randomly decides the file cannot be overwritten, leading to a cycle of saving under a different name, deleting the old, editing the new, saving it under a new name then deleting the temp version. No other application is open - just the library editor. It does this whether or not M-PC is running.

It must be a bug - because the only application with the fixture open is the library editor. Its very frustrating.

  1. M-PC seems to cache fixture definitions - Is there a way to force update?
    I spotted an issue on one of the channels of one of my fixtures (W channel called UV!). So I went in and edited the fixture. We through the problems with (1) despite m-pc being closed. I ran up M-PC and in an attempt to avoid the cache I moved the 4 fixtures to new IDs and new DMX addresses. I then patched in the newly edited fixture (the channel shows up correctly on the preview list as White). Once patched in I then cloned the existing 4 fixtures to retain my groups/presets and then fixed up the 2dplan.
    Rather dismayed to find in the programmer the situation is completely unchanged. So despite having correctly shown the fixture channels in teh preview, it still went right ahead and used its cached version.

This is rather poor as it means you can never fix problems in a fixture library without re-creating a show. If you create a new show the fixture is picked up correctly....until you edit the fixture definition again that is....

Any ideas on solving or any workarounds to stop this happening?

Cheers
Barry

RGB Faders (by Paul Pelletier)

How to Create 3 controller faders for RGB or CMY

Lets create 3 overrides where each one control only a color.

Be aware, as soon as you touch of the three parameters R,G,B or C,M,Y, the two other are included in the programmer as well.

Example if you set RED to 100%, then Hold the Clear button and press the Green and Blue Wheel to remove the values for the programmer.

on M-PC simply right-click on the parameter to be cleared and a menu will popup.

Then record as an Override.

Repeat for Green and Blue. But this time for green you will clear the Red and Blue and for Blue you will clear the Red and Green.

Fixture profile - IM 250s

@Giglight wrote:

Hi all

I have an issue with the built in profile for the Imove 250s (and 575).

The following functions are not working/inaccurate. I have created a new fixture in the editor and solved but ideally need the built in one fixed when convenient.

Issues
1) colour wheel and gobo wheel missing last position
2) remote lamp and reset commands don't work.

Issue 1 you can work around by selecting blank space after the prior position on programmer.

Remote lamp and reset operations work with the following configuration

For DMX reset, put DMX value of CH-8 & CH-16 to 255, the unit will reset after about five
seconds.

For lamp on, put DMX value of CH-8 to 247 & CH-16 to 255.
For lamp off, put DMX value of CH-8 to 239 & CH-16 to 255.

Inverted link of pan/tilt controls between fixtures when programming a cue?

@b.pearce wrote:

I have 4 moving head fixtures, 2 located up in a truss and 2 on the floor.
In general the pan/tilts work as expected and the lower fixtures have pan inverted on the fixture profile.
Im happy with this setup and for the most part its easy to control.

One particular thing I want to do is select all 4 fixtures at a given set of (different values) and be able to alter the pan and tilt - except I would like the lower fixtures to reflect this inversely. (without altering the fixture - this move is for a specific set of cues).

i.e. If I move the upper fixtures tilt by +20 I want the lower fixtures to invert that and alter by -20.

How do I achieve this within the programmer?

Way to see which part of cue is still active and therefore stopping release?

@b.pearce wrote:

I have a number of cuelists assigned and when running them one after the other I was expecting the earlier ones to release (I thought the newer ones covered all the params so the earlier should go inactive and release).

How does one determine which parts the current stage have come from from cue - so I can therefore see which parts of the cues are causing the release to not occur.

Cheers!

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum but am using M-PC together with an M-Play and M-Touch at the club I'm working at for 4 months now and it's fantastic!
Recently I got a Launchpad and have configured it to select colors for my various spots etc.
The Launchpad is able to flash its buttons according to MIDI Clock.
I was hoping to get informations on:
- Is M-PC able to output MIDI Clock based on its Beat Editor?
- If yes, has anyone ever tried this?

Complete Setup MPC-Touch and Routing in Cubase

$

@kingblert wrote:

The MPC Touch and included MPC software combine to create a powerful beat-making machine, incorporating all elements of the legendary MPC workflow. Using the MPC software as a plugin adds even more features and options to connect and interact with your favorite DAW. This guide walks you through everything you need to know about using the Akai Pro MPC Touch as a plug-in inside Cubase.

Contents:
Authorizing MPC
Loading the Plug-in
Mapping the Transport Controls
Using the Multi Output plug-in option
Exporting Audio from the MPC Plug-in
Additional Guides & Videos
Further Technical Support

Authorizing MPC
The MPC software authorization process occurs in the stand-alone version of the MPC application rather than in the plugin. Before using the plugin, first launch the standalone version of the MPC application to authorize it. For a complete walkthrough on authorizing the software, check out the following article:

Akai Pro MPC Touch - Installation, Calibration, and Unlock Walkthrough

Loading the Plug-in
For Windows user's, the Cubase software is pre-configured to search for your plugins in the Steinberg folder within your Program Files on your hard drive. If you have created a custom location for your plug-ins, be sure to direct Cubase to this location by creating a new path in the plug-in manager before completing this section.

1.In Cubase, press Project > Add Track > Instrument

MPC Touch Cubase instument

2.Select the MPC Plug-in as your instrument and press Add Track.

MPC Touch Cubase Insturment Select

3.The MPC Plug-in will then launch in your Cubase Session.

Mapping the Transport Controls
Cubase uses .xml files to map controls like the transport to their software. We have a pre-configured .xml file prepared to help you quickly the sync the MPC Touch transport with Cubase. Download the file below and follow the steps to install:

Cubase Transport XML File

1.Navigate to the Device Menu and select Device Setup.

2.In Device Setup, select Generic Remote from the Devices list, and choose Public for both MIDI Input & Output drop-down menus.

MPC Touch Cubase Remote

3.Still, in the Generic Remote page, select the Import button, and load the Akai MPC Touch.xml, which will provide transport control from the MPC Touch to Cubase

MPC Tpuch Cubase Transport XML

4.Select Apply, then OK.

Using the Multi Output plug-in option
While MPC is running as a plugin inside Cubase, you can route individual MPC tracks to their own tracks in Cubase to make it easier for mixing.

  1. In the Inspector, Click the Activate Outputs button - the arrow to the right of the VST name.

    MPC Touch Multi Output

2.Click the All Outputs option to highlight and enable all of MPC's 16 stereo outputs or just select the outputs you plan to use.

MPC Touch Multi Ouput Select

3.On the MPC software instrument track, click the Show/Hide Automation button to reveal the individual output tracks.

MPC Touch Cubase Automation Select

MPC Touch Cubase Multi Output

4.In MPC, route your programs or tracks to different output channels. You can do this from the Program or Track Mixer in MPC by clicking on the output drop-down menu for the chosen track, just above the channel fader and pan for each track.

MPCTouch Output
And that's it! The individual audio tracks in Cubase will receive audio from the corresponding tracks in MPC.

Exporting Audio from the MPC Plug-in
You may have noticed that the sequences you have created within the MPC plug-in do not show up in your Cubase session. This is normal.

The sequence you have created will export within the region you select in your session.

1.Choose the region length of the song you want to export.

MPC Touch Cubase region Export

2.With your region selected, go to File > Export > Audio Mixdown

MPc Touch Cubase Export

3.Name your track, choose a location, and select the desired quality of the export.

MPC Touch Cubae Export End

4.Click Export to bounce your sequence/song.
