M-PC to APC40 - LED Colour Response

@vareas wrote:

Hi All,

I've got my APC40 mapped out to M-PC via M-PCtools (Thanks Ricardo) and almost everything is running smoothly for what I want to do. My only hangup (right now) is how to create colour feedback on the APC40's buttons. I'm using the buttons as playback buttons & I'd really love it to have the following functionality:
Active --> Green
Release --> Red
Inactive --> No LED

Can anyone point me in the direction of where / how to do this? Any video tutorials out there at all?

Thanks.
Scott

M-Series licenses get much simpler...

Martin by Harman announces M-PC Free, Pro and Ultimate Editions, removes all licensing restrictions from M-Series consoles

Martin by Harman today announces some exciting changes to the M-Series, giving all existing and new users of the software great added value through increased DMX resources. Martin M-PC will continue to be available at no charge, and increases its DMX output of the Free edition to 4 Artnet, sACN or Martin USB DMX ports.

For increased Universe needs, M-PC is available as a Pro Kit that opens up 64 DMX Universes, which includes a Martin One-Key and one Martin M-DMX. Existing owners of the M-PC kit will automatically see their Universe count increase to 64 with a software upgrade. For even larger systems, M-PC Ultimate is a simple license upgrade applied to the Martin One-Key, increasing access to 128 Universes.

With three simple choices of M-PC Free, Pro or Ultimate, the user can access the full M-Series software with no artificial feature restrictions.
In addition to the greatly increased value of M-PC, all restrictions are removed from all existing M-Series consoles, giving each device unlimited access to DMX outputs based on the consoles processing power. Existing owners of M-Series consoles will be excited to see this drastic increase in usability of their desks at no cost to them with a simple software update.
M2PC extends to 64 Universes, M2GO to 8, M1 to 32 and every M6 console in the world will unlock itself to 64 Universes. With all devices in the M-Series architecture no costly processing nodes and complicated network systems are required as all DMX calculation is done centrally on the CPU and transmitted over Ethernet using industry standard protocols.
Martin’s powerful M-PC system has seen unprecedented growth in the market over the years and has become the industry standard PC based controller, while the M-Series consoles have steadily grown a global user base with its simple programming philosophy and carefully designed hardware for all levels of shows. The Martin M-Touch and M-Play have made M-PC the premier control platform at an unbeatable price point.
“Simplifying the licensing system of the M-Series range and increasing the EtherDMX universes of the M-PC Free Edition has been on our mind for a long time and was a frequent request from our rapidly expanding user base.” says Harman Product Manager Matthias Hinrichs, “It’s really great to provide this to all owners and loyal fans of the M-Series, allowing them to utilize the consoles and PC systems to their maximum potential”.
Download the latest software for Martin M-Series at http://controllersupport.martin.com ; Version 3.60 is required for the new licensing system which will be made available shortly.

Two new members to the M-Series family

@PaulPelletier wrote:

LAS VEGAS—Martin by HARMAN today announced two new members to the M-Series family, the M1 HD and the M2GO HD. Carrying the same DNA as the acclaimed M1, the M1 HD brings more power, speed, a new foldable multi-touch head display and four additional parameters encoders. The M2GO HD is the logical continuation of the M2GO and carries a brand new processing core, added built-in foldable multi-touch screen and four additional parameters encoders.
More details from Martin (http://www.martin.com/MSeries)

Both new controllers include the latest graphic chipset to ensure smooth graphical effects of future software upgrades and come standard with a bright, multi-touch head display. The high-resolution crisp LCD display features capacitive multi-touch and can be folded down to retain a compact footprint.
In addition to the original four encoders, the M1 HD and the M2GO HD include four additional encoders on the right side of the head display. These encoders follow the same ‘ease-of-use’ concept found on the M-Series flagship M6. Any parameter, effects or speed control can be assigned and mapped by the user which allows for faster access while programming.

The M1 HD processing unit delivers 40 universes of DMX, Artnet and sACN. All 40 universes are fully unlocked with no need to obtain extra licensing.

The M1 HD control surface retains its design from the original M1. With 22 playbacks faders, 64 playbacks buttons, main go section, grand master control, four encoders, numerical keypad, 12 user functions key and five LCD buttons for quick parameter access. The M1 HD has four DMX ports and one DMX input. Two Ethernet RJ45 for Artnet, sACN and tracking backup complete the package. A total of seven USB ports are available. MIDI and SMPTE interfaces are now built in to the M1 HD as standard features to ensure consistency between consoles.

The M2GO HD processing unit delivers 20 universes of DMX, Artnet and sACN in a rugged, roadworthy package aimed at lighting designers on the go. All 20 universes are fully unlocked with no need to obtain extra licensing.

The M2GO HD control surface features 10 playbacks, 40 playbacks buttons, main go section, grand master control, four encoders, numerical keypad, eight user functions key and a 3.5” display for quick parameter access. The M2GO HD also features four DMX ports and two Ethernet RJ45 for Artnet, sACN and tracking backup. A total of three USB ports are available. MIDI and SMPTE interfaces are now built in to the M2GO HD as standard features.
Like all other members of the M-Series family, the M1 HD and M2GO HD are fully compatible with any of the other M-Series console and PC software. Any show file can be moved to any M-Series console and M-PC for hassle-free integration and great ease of use.

M-PC Free - how many universes with add hardware now?

@DrBluesVJ wrote:

Hi,
it's great news about increasing licence free DMX universes :slight_smile:
My particular question is:
I've got now and use M-PC free with M-DMX /two universe licenses included/
+ M-Touch /third licence/ and I will buy M-Play soon /fourth licence/.
It gives me 4 licences = 4 DMX at this moment.
What happen if I'll connect Art Net interface for more DMX access?
Should I buy One Key dongle only to achieve more licences /similar set to Pro Kit/ and it gives me one unnecesary M-DMX, which I have now, but 64 licences?
Or should I buy new full Pro Kit /and I'll have two unnecesary M-DMX in this case/, but 64 licences?
Or only future upgrade to 3.60 gives 64 DMX's on Art Net without any One Key dongle?

M-PC on Laptop External Monitor Issue

@McLightingGuy wrote:

I am running M-PC on my Dell Laptop with Window 10 as well as M-Touch. The issue I'm having it that when I hook up a external monitor to the laptop to run a multi screen set up, after a few minutes or when I try to record a cue or anything to a fader, M-PC lockes up. It doesn't crash but I can't do anything in the program until I unplug the external display. After I unplug the display I get the pop up asking if want to record as a cuelist, submaster, ect... and everything works as it should. It will also go back to normal when the display is hooked back up until I recreate the issue.

Let me know if any more info is needed.

Software Version 3.52.718.0
M-Touch Firmware was updated on the 20th when I got it.

Override with QBlender Question

@albertosgr wrote:

Hi all.

I'm facing a kind rare issue and hope that someone can help me with this.

I have 2 fixtures that have intensity inversed (0=full intensity and 255= 0 intensity). So when everything else is dimming out, these are dimming up.

I'm trying to make a fader in order to adjust intensity along with all other fixtures that operates normally. So far I created an override with qblender that at cue1 has all fixtures to intensity 0 (and reversed @ 100%) and cue 2 that does the opposite (intensity 100% for normal fixtures and intensity 0 for reversed). In order this to work as expected, from/to values are set like this (cue1: from :0 to 0, cue2: from 0 to 100).

Everything seems to work very nice BUT, when the override is at position 0, it deactivates and thus the reversed fixtures light at full intensity.

Is there any way to keep the override active even @position 0?
Is there any other way to achieve this kind of functionality with MPC?

Thank you all

Running M-PC on Asus VivoPC

I'm looking for a compact size pc to put in to my m-touch/touchscreen case and I was wondering if Asus VivoPC vm60 ( https://www.asus.com/Mini-PCs/VivoPC_VM60/ ) would do the job. Anyone having experience with one? The i3 model seems to be in a very affordable price point. Specs would be:

  • Intel i3-3217U 1,8 GHz dual core
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 128 GB SSD
  • Win 10 64-bit

IMO it should run fine but is this decent for future updates (pixel mapping)?
Thank you for your input :slight_smile:

Get a Cuelist to act like an inhibitive fader

@Matt_Smith wrote:

Hi there,
Trying to utilize the buttons above and below an inhibitor to run a bunch of macros.

What I want to do is have the fader inhibit the intensity of the light and then the buttons cycle through a bunch of position looks through macros. Unfortunately inhibit doesn't allow for multiple cues or macros. .
I've tried using cueblenders and a few other things.
Any suggestions?

Cheers

Hi all!

I made a view, containing about 400 single RGB-fixtures, set up in a special arrangement. Unfortunately the Architekt decided to move the point where the control desk will be located within the room.
The whole (completely done) view has to be turned by 90 degrees.
Is the a way doing it or do I have to do the whole thing again?
Best regards,

@skippa wrote:

maybe the cheapest way to take a look at the M-PC world is this USB to RS485 Adapter:

It will be detected as a Enttec Open DMX interface and works well so far. Here you can download the hardware driver for windows and other OS (website of the chip manufacturer FTDI):

http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm

You only have to add a femal XLR to the output-port of the PCB.
